Europa League or Top 4. What should Unai Emery prioritize?

After missing out on Champions League for two straight years, Arsenal is desperate to move back among Europe’s big boys.

However, the competition for Champions League places is harder than ever in the Premier League.

The Gunners have shown signs of promise under the management of Unai Emery, but they remained outsiders to finish in the top-four this season.

The North London side was rather impressive in their recent win over Chelsea.

It was a must-win game for Arsenal, and Unai Emery’s players responded in a brilliant fashion. The 2-0 win has put them just three points outside the top-four, and very much in the race.

Arsenal also has another medium to qualify for Champions League in Europa League this season.

Emery is famous for his success in the competition, and that puts Arsenal in a strong position in the competition.

The Gunners are struggling with a number of injuries currently as the likes of Hector Bellerin, Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding have been ruled for the season.

This poses a great challenge ahead of Unai Emery and his players, and there might come a time when the Gunners would need to prioritize one competition over the other.

The Gunners have to face BATE Borisov in the last-32, and they would be expected to progress into the next round easily.

Things could get tricky from the next round onwards, but I don’t think Unai Emery would prioritize Europa League unless his side has made it to the semi-finals.

As things stand, the Gunners have a glorious opportunity to slip into the back-four.

Chelsea has looked vulnerable in recent weeks, and injuries to their main players currently rock Tottenham.

They are favorites to finish in the top four, but their recent game against Fulham was a huge indicator of struggles to come in the absence of Harry Kane, and possibly Dele Alli.

Manchester United have also caught with the top-four race, and it makes for an interesting battle.

Undoubtedly, the Gunners are in the race for now, and they would be aiming to catch up with Chelsea and Spurs in the coming weeks.

They can’t afford any more slip-ups as United are breathing down their neck.
